Los Angeles/ November 28, 2018 – This is one of the most diverse years in motion pictures and television, and the International Press Academy (IPA) is reflecting that in its nominations for the 23rd Annual Satellite™ Awards selected from domestic and international submissions. This year, the IPA revived the categories in Motion Picture, Comedy or Musicals.
This year Ryan Coogler is named as one of the youngest recipients of the Auteur Award, given to filmmakers with creative vision and unique artistry. Coogler directed Black Panther, Fruitvale Station, Creed and the upcoming Black Panther II. He joins other Auteur honorees such as George Clooney, Roger Corman, Peter Bogdanovich, Robert Altman, Julian Schnabel among others
The Mary Pickford Award for Outstanding, Artistic Contribution to the Entertainment Industry and the Tesla Award for Visionary Achievement in Filmmaking Technology will be announced in December, along with nominations for DVD/Blu-ray.
For the 24th Satellite Awards, the IPA will be adding two long-overlooked awards, the Stunt Award and the Casting Award.
